His Eminence Timotheos, Metropolitan of Bostra

Was born in Patras in 1951. He arrived in Jerusalem in 1967. A graduate of the Patriarchal School, he was tonsured Monk and ordained as Deacon in 1970. In 1975 he was ordained Priest. He studied the Sacred Sciences at the Theological Academy of St. Petersburg, from where he graduated in 1980 receiving the title of “Kandidat” of Theology.
In 1978 he received the title of Archimandrite. He was appointed as Secretary of the Patriarchal Offices, and in 1981 was promoted to the rank of Chief Secretary. He served as a member of the School Board. In 1983 he was named Elder Chief Secretary and in 1985 he was appointed as Member of the Holy and Sacred Synod.
In 1988 he was elected Bishop of Porphyroupolis, maintaining the position of Chief Secretary until 2001. In 1991 he was elected Archbishop of Lydda. In 1998 he was elevated to Metropolitan of Bostra. He took part in various Conferences as a representative of the Patriarchate, and in the Conference of Churches of the Middle East from 1986 to 1995. He organized and managed the Peace Conference in 1986 and the Pan-Orthodox festivities for the 2000-year anniversary of Christianity. He constructed the Patriarchal Mansion in Jerusalem, and contributed to the construction of schools in Beit Sahour, Bire in Ramallah, and Koufr Yasif.
He accompanied Patriarch Diodoros on his official visits to all Orthodox Autocephalous Churches.
In October 2005 he was appointed head of the reorganization of the Exarchy of Cyprus, where he fully constructed the Exarchy Headquarters and inaugurated it in 2014. He was named Exarch in the same year.
