His Eminence Alexios, Archbishop of Tiberias

Was born in Lehena in 1954. He came to Jerusalem in 1967. Graduating from the Patriarchal School, he studied the Sacred Sciences at the Theological School of the University of Athens.
He was tonsured Monk and ordained as Deacon in 1972. In 1975 he was ordained Priest and received the title of Archimandrite in 1978.
He served as Secretary in the Patriarchal Offices, while in 1979 he was appointed Master of Ceremonies of the Patriarchates and Director of the Patriarchal Museum and Patriarchal Gallery.
In March 1991 he was appointed as Member of the Holy and Sacred Synod and in November 1st 1991, he was elected Bishop of Porphyroupolis. In June 1996 he was elected Archbishop of Tiberias and was nominated President of the Education Committee. In 2001 he was appointed Patriarchal Commissioner in Gaza.
He accompanied Patriarch Diodoros in his travels.
