THE AMBASSADOR OF THE U.S.A. IN GREECE VISITED THE PATRIARCHATE

On Wednesday 16/29 June 2022 the Ambassador of the United States of America to Greece, Mr George Tsounis visited the Patriarchate.

His Excellence the Ambassador was warmly welcomed by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Hagiotaphite Fathers.

His Beatitude informed the Ambassador about the long-term mission of the Patriarchate – pilgrimage, educational, pastoral, cultural and pacifying – at the Old City of Jerusalem and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in its jurisdiction in Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Autonomy and in Qatar.

Through its mission, the Patriarchate supports its flock and all the Christians and the existing governments so that they may reduce the tension and cope with the trouble caused by the radical elements against the Christians.

For this visit, Mr Tsounis offered His Beatitude a silver pot, a symbol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the U.S.A., while the latter offered him a silver icon of Jerusalem and crosses for his wife and children.

Thanking His Beatitude, Mr Tsounis invited Him to visit Athens.
