THE FEAST OF THE HOLY FIRST MARTYR THECLA AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Wednesday, September 24/ October 7, 2020, the Patriarchate celebrated the commemoration of the Holy First Martyr Thecla, the Equal to the Apostles, at the Holy Chapel dedicated to her, inside the Central Monastery of the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood, on the west side of the Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen.

On this feast, the Church commemorates Saint Thecla as one of Saint Paul’s disciples, who followed him in his tours and preached Christ and the Orthodox Faith in the cities of Asia Minor. She concluded her life in her own hometown, Iconium of Lycia at the age of ninety.

For this Feast, Vespers was held in the afternoon and the Divine Liturgy on the morning of the Feast, by the Typikon keeper Archimandrite Alexios. The Services were officiated by the ministering Priest of this week Archimandrite Sergios and other ministering Priests, as H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos participated in the prayer, along with Hagiotaphite Archbishops, Fathers and others. The chanting was delivered by Archimandrite Eusevios and Mr Vasilios Gotsopoulos.

After Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, there was a reception with boiled wheat, dried bread and wine at the courtyard of the Epitropikon.
