HAGIOTAPHITE FATHERS’FORTIETH DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE

On Saturday June 28/ July 11, 2020, the Fortieth-day memorial service of the Hagiotaphite Fathers was held for Archimandrite Martyrios, who slept in the Lord on 1st June 2020, and for Monk Nickolaos Zervis who slept in the Lord three months ago.

The first of the memorable Fathers was a minister at the Shrine of Madaba in Jordan for the last few years, while the latter served as the Managing Director at the School of Zion and wrote remarkable Theological and Educational books. Fr. Nickolaos lived in the last few years of his life in Athens for health reasons, where he also slept in the Lord.

This memorial service was held by the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood at the Horrendous Golgotha with a Divine Liturgy which was officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Aristovoulos of Madaba, with the co-celebration of Hagiotaphite Fathers.

The memorial service was led by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos with the co-celebration of about twenty Hagiotaphite Archbishops, Hieromonks and Hierodeacons, due the COVID-19 restrictions, while some faithful remained outside praying by the Gate and the walls of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

After the Divine Liturgy there was a reception in memory of the departed at the Patriarchate Headquarters.

The Hagiotaphite Brotherhood is praying for the repose of the souls of its departed dear Brethren, that they may dwell with the righteous in the land of the living .
