THE FEAST OF ST. BASIL AT THE HOLY MONASTERY OF ST. BASIL

The commemoration of St. Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea of Cappadocia was celebrated at his Holy Monastery in the Old City of Jerusalem, before the New Gate of the Wall of Jerusalem, on Tuesday January 1/14, 2020.

For this feast the Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the morning of New Year’s by the Master of Ceremonies Archimandrite Bartholomew, with the chanting of the Most Reverend Archbishop Aristovoulos of Madaba, Archimandrite Demetrios and Monk Raphael, with the participation of a congregation of Monks, Nuns and pilgrims.

During the Liturgy, H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos came for veneration with Hagiotaphite Fathers after the cutting of the New Year Cake at the Epitropikon.

The Patriarchal Entourage and the congregation were offered a reception by the Hegoumen of the Monastery Elder Kamarasis Archimandrite Nectarios.
