THE FEAST OF THE ST. BARBARA THE GREAT MARTYR AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Tuesday, December 4/17, 2019, the Patriarchate celebrated the commemoration of the Holy Glorious Barbara the Great Martyr at the chapel dedicated to her, on the south wing of the Church of St. Nicholas, adjacent to the Patriarchate on the west side.

The Church commemorates St. Barbara from Nicomedia, as she martyred for Christ, after having been tortured and put to death by her own father in the year 290.

Her commemoration was honoured by the Patriarchate in the afternoon and in the morning of the feast by Archimandrite Demetrios under the provision of Archdeacon Mark, who offered a reception to the celebrating congregation at the hegoumeneion after the Divine Liturgy.
