FORTIETH DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THE HEGOUMEN OF SARANTARION MOUNT HAGIOTAPHITE ARCHIMANDRITE GERASIMOS
On Monday morning, August 25/September 7, 2019, at the Horrendous Golgotha, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated along with the 40th day memorial service for the repose of the soul of memorable Archimandrite Gerasimos, Hegoumen and renovator of the Holy Monastery of Sarantarion Mount, sponsor and renovator of the Holy Monastery of St. John the Forerunner by the Jordan river, under the supervision of the current Hegoumen, Archimandrite Bartholomew.
The Divine Liturgy was officiated by the Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, with co-celebrants the Archimandrites Artemios and Dionysios, Hieromonk Onuphrios, the ministering Priest of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre Fr. Nikolaos, and the Deacons Sophronios and Demetrios. The memorial service was led by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos with co-celebrants the Most Reverend Archbishops; Aristarchos of Constantina, Methodios of Tabor, Demetrios of Lydda and His Eminence Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis, at the presence of many faithful Christians.
Boiled wheat was offered at the Reception Hall of the Patriarchate after the Divine Liturgy.
