THE SCHOOL CEREMONY AT THE PATRIARCHAL SCHOOL OF ZION FOR THE NATIONAL CELEBRATION OF MARCH 25 1821

On Monday evening March 12/25, 2019, the school ceremony for the anniversary of March 25 1821 took place at the Patriarchal School for Priests in Holy Zion.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, escorted by Geronda Secretary-General Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, the Most Reverend Archbishop Isidoros of Hierapolis and Chairman of the School Board and other Hagiotaphite Fathers, along with the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem Mr. Christos Sophianopoulos, members of the Consulate and of the Greek Community, Greek pilgrims and Nuns of the Patriarchate.

The ceremony began with the introductory speech by the School Managing Director, Archimandrite Mattheos, the festive speech of the day by the Greek literature teacher Mr. Michail Kehagias, reciting of poems, and texts, song singing and the presentation of a short theatrical play by the students, under the lead of the teachers of the School and of the Choir Leader of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre Mr. Constantinos Spyropoulos.

There were also videos of the suffering of our nation for four hundred years under the Turkish Ottoman yoke, the fights of our fathers and heroes of the Revolution and the spiritual support of the Church for eight years until the liberation of our nation and the creation of an independent country for a life in freedom, progress and prosperity.

At the end of the ceremony His Beatitude and the Consul General praised the teachers and the students for their good performance, which evoked feelings of national sensitivity and pride and the desire to accomplish the fighting morals of the years following the revolution of 1821.
