THE BOILED WHEAT MIRACLE OF ST. THEODORE THE TYRO

On Saturday morning of the First Week of Lent, March 3/16, 2019, the commemoration of the boiled wheat miracle of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore the Tyro was celebrated at the Holy Monastery of Saints Theodoroi by the New Gate. On this feast the Church reminds the faithful that St. Theodore the Tyro appeared to the Archbishop Eudoxios of Consantinople in a dream and advised him to tell the faithful to eat boiled wheat in order to avoid the food that was offered as sacrifice to idols, which Julian the Offender had distribute in the market of Constantinople.

Both Vespers and the Divine Liturgy were led by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis, with co-celebrants the Archimandrites Mattheos, Stephen, Meletios and Priest George, while the chanting was delivered by Archimandrite Demetrios. The service was attended by faithful from Jerusalem and pilgrims.

H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Hagiotaphite Fathers came for veneration during the Divine Liturgy.

The Episcopal Entourage and the congregation were offered a reception by the Hegoumen Archimandrite Alexios.
