THE FEAST OF SAINT THECLA AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Sunday, September 24/October 7, 2018, the Patriarchate celebrated the commemoration of St. Thecla the First Martyr and Equal to the Apostles at her chapel within the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood, on the West side of the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen.

The Church holds the memory that Saint Thecla was Apostle Paul’s disciple and escorted him preaching Christ, while she endured many persecutions and died at the age of 90 in her hometown, Ikonion of Asia Minor.

In honour of the Saint, Vespers was held by the Officiating Priests of the Central Monastery while H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem attended the prayer, and at the end of the service there was a reception with the boiled wheat and wine and dried bread at the courtyard of the Epitropikon.

On Sunday morning, on the day of the Feast, Matins and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated at the presence of His Beatitude. The hymns were delivered by the Choir Leader Archimandrite Eusevios and there was a participation of Hagiotaphite Archbishops, Priests and Monks, along with a large congregation.

A reception followed at the Epitropikon.
