MONDAY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AT THE HOLY ZION
On Monday of the Holy Spirit, May 15/28, 2018, the coming down from heaven of the Holy Spirit to the Holy disciples and apostles as they were gathered in the Upper Room, was especially celebrated.
This event was celebrated at the place where it happened, the hill of Holy Zion. On this day the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity inside the building of the Patriarchal School, led by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Joachim of Helenoupolis, with co-celebrant Hagiotaphite Hieromonks and deacons, at the presence of local faithful and pilgrims.
The Divine Liturgy was followed by a procession from the Church towards Prophet David’s Tomb and the Upper Room, while the Kneeling Service was being read, one prayer at the Church, one at the outer chapel and one at the Upper Room, followed by a special prayer at David’s Tomb.
The Procession returned to the School from the Upper room and there was a memorial service for the departed in front of the cemetery. At the end of the service the School Manager Archimandrite Mattheos offered a reception to the Episcopal Entourage and the congregation.
