THE AIR-FORCE COMMANDER OF CYPRUS VISITS THE PATRIARCHATE

On Thursday afternoon, May 11/24, 2018, the Air-Force Commander of the Democracy of Cyprus, Brigadier General Mr. Filokypros Yiannakis visited the Patriarchate, escorted by his wife Mrs. Nikoleta Christodoulidou-Yiannaki, Lieutenant Colonel Mr. Marios Floridis and the Defence attaché of the Embassy of Cyprus in Tel-Aviv Mr. Loizos Mikikouris.

The Air-Force Commander was received by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Hagiotaphite Fathers.

In this meeting there was an interesting conversation of the existing religious situation in Jerusalem, the co-existence of the three Major Religious Communities in peace and on the role of the Patriarchate in the sustaining of this state, and that an overturning of this state would bring chaos.

There was also an interesting conversation on the geographical position of Cyprus and its state under the illegal occupation, and Mr. Filokypros offered His Beatitude a board, praising His work and expressing his certainty that the religion and the Church are able and should be the link between the Cypriot and the Greek political forces, but also between the Greek and the Cypriot people.

Agreeing, His Beatitude offered Mr. Filokypros an icon of the Theotokos and the Sacred Edicule, and Mr. Filokypros thank Him for his visit to the Holy Sepulchre.
