On Friday evening May 5/18, 2018, the Service of the Election of Archimandrite Christophoros to Archbishop of Kyriakoupolis took place after Vespers at the Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen with the Great Message of his ordination to Archbishop at the All-Holy Church of the Resurrection the next day, Saturday morning, May 6/19, 2018.

The Service was held according to the Typikon of our Orthodox Church which ordains the signature of those who voted for the Elect at the Code of Consignment inside the Holy Altar.

The Elect was honoured by the participation at the Election Service the members of the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood, his parents, brother and other relatives and members of the Congregation from Jordan, where he has been serving for years.

After the Election Service all attendants went to the Patriarchate Headquarters.

There the newly-Elect addressed His Beatitude in Greek as follows;

Your Beatitude Father and Master,

This is a special day in my life. Allow me to thank God, the Most Holy Theotokos and You personally. I thank you and promise to follow the path of the Brotherhood and live up to its expectations and of the Congregation of the Patriarchate which I have been serving for many years as a Hagiotaphite.

His Beatitude addressed the newly-Elect in return as follows;

   Your Grace Archbishop-Elect Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis,

In its recent session our Holy and Sacred Synod having unanimously accepted Our Patriarchal and Fatherly suggestion for your promotion to the Episcopal Office, duly casted its voting and has elected Your Grace, Archbishop of the luminous Diocese of Kyriakoupolis of old, and appointed You Patriarchal Commissioner and spiritual shepherd of our Christian Congregation inhabiting the city of Amman in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its outskirts.

Our Holy and Sacred Synod did this hearkening to the God-inspired words of St. Paul saying: “For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 3:13).

Your Grace, Archbishop-Elect Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis, our Holy Church of Jerusalem has called us to the outmost honour of the Episcopal office on the one hand, and on the other, it has designated us with this indeed sacrificial mission of the resurrection through the cross in quite critical times for the Christian presence in our hard-tested region of the Middle East.

We wish that the Grace of the Holy Spirit which heals all infirmities and replenishes what is incomplete, strengthens You in the completion of the new Hagiotaphite duties and the God-pleasing mission of the Bishop of the Church of Jerusalem that has been entrusted to you, and guide your footsteps towards the working of the commandments of the Grand Shepherd our Lord Jesus Christ, especially towards the safekeeping of the solid unity of our full Christian Congregation on either side of the banks of the River Jordan, by the intercessions of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and of Your Patron Saint Christophoros the Great Martyr.

Be Axios and steadfast in faith.
