THE MINISTER OF CULTURE OF JORDAN VISITS THE PATRIARCHATE

On Thursday April 20/May 3, 2018, the Minister of Culture of Jordan Mr. Nabie Shekem visited the Patriarchate, escorted by his associates and Mr. Anuar Hatib.

The Minister and his escort were warmly received by H.H.B. our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Hagiotaphite Fathers.

In this meeting the Minister thanked His Beatitude for His reception and the relationship and co-operation the Patriarchate shares with the Kingdom of Jordan; for these reasons His Beatitude receives special honour and respect in Jordan.

Replying, His Beatitude underlined the role of the Patriarchate in the safekeeping of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the role of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in preserving the Status Quo in Jerusalem, as well as its significance as a pilgrimage.

            On the occasion of this visit, His Beatitude offered the Minister a ceramic disc displaying Jerusalem and blessed his visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
