THE CHIEF OF HELLENIC AIR FORCE VISITS THE PATRIARCHATE

On Monday afternoon, 31st October/13th November 2017, the Lieutenant General Christos Christodoulou and Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff visited the Patriarchate, escorted by his wife, the Defence Attaché in the Greek Embassy in Tel Aviv Colonel (Air Force) Vasileios Broumas, and some of his associates.

The Chief of the Hellenic Air force was warmly received by His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos and Hagiotaphite Fathers, such as the Patriarchal Commissioner Most Reverend Metropolitan Isychios of Kapitolias, the Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina and Dragouman Archimandrite Mattheos.

In this meeting there was an interesting conversation on the relationship between Judaism and Christianity, the Greek and the Jewish nations and on the relationship that the Patriarchate holds currently with the Governments of the region, as well as on the recent problem that concerns the Patriarchate, regarding the presence of radical settlor groups.

On the occasion of this visit, His Beatitude wished Mr. Christodoulou God’s blessing in his mission to protect the country and offered him a copy of the recently discovered in the Lord’s Tom Cross made by Komnenos and an icon of the Sacred Edicule. The discovery of the Cross was made during the restoration project of the Sacred Edicule.

Mr. Christodoulou thanked His Beatitude for the gifts and offered Him the emblem of the Air Force wings, bearing a special inscription for His Beatitude.
