Replying, His Beatitude expressed His joy for the visit of such a Presidential team, coming from a country with a complexity of political problems both in the past and at present, as He himself noted in His visit to Montenegro a few months ago, when He was invited by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Amphilochios of Montenegro for the inauguration of the Holy Church of the Martyr St. Vladimir.

His Beatitude moreover referred to the peacemaker role of the Orthodox Church which unites in its Body various Orthodox nationalities occasionally competing with each other.

His Beatitude also discussed with the President the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate in the Holy Land, extending as far as Qatar, where the Patriarchate founded an Archdiocese under the lead of the Most Reverend Archbishop Makarios of Qatar, who has studied Theology at the University of Belgrade in Serbia.

The visit concluded with exchanging of gifts and the President’s wish to visit the Holy Sepulchre.
