PRIEST ORDINATION AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Saturday morning of the 2nd week of Great Lent, 26th February/11th March, 2017, at the Most Holy Church of the Resurrection, Hierodeacon Fr. Nectarios Rabia was ordained a Priest by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Kyriakos of Nazareth, in order to serve as Dean Priest at the Greek Orthodox Arab-speaking Community of town Pkea, in north Israel, near the borders with Lebanon.

The newly-ordained Priest was escorted at his ordination by his wife and children, relatives and around one hundred members of the Community which he is to serve.

Before the ordination, the Archbishop who performed the sacrament addressed the ordained with a fatherly sermon (see video), while the latter answered in Arabic (see video).

At the time of the invocation of the Divine Grace and the placing of the Archbishop’s hands on the ordained Priest’s head, those who honoured him with their presence cried out “Axios”.

After the ordination, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nazareth who performed the sacrament, the ordained Priest and his guests went to the Patriarchate and paid their respect to His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos.

His Beatitude blessed the new Priest and admonished him with Fatherly words, so that he may serve conscientiously and please both God and the people and contribute to the salvation of the souls of the parish members he is to serve.
