THE FEAST OF THE SYNAXIS OF THEOTOKOS AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Sunday 26th December 2016 / 8th January 2017, one day after Christmas, the feast of the Synaxis of our Most Holy Theotokos was celebrated.

This feast is celebrated as Synaxis (Gathering) of our faithful in order to pay a special tribute to Theotokos for her immense contribution which surpassed any other human being or even angel, to bear Christ incarnate through the Holy Spirit for our salvation.

The feast was celebrated in the Holy Monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, officiating His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, with the congregation of Hagiotaphite Archbishops, and other Hagiotaphite Fathers and pilgrims.

The Divine Liturgy was followed by a reception at the Patriarchate. There was the fraternal osculation of the Archbishops with His Beatitude and the kissing of the His Beatitude’s hand by the Priests, monks, nuns and the pilgrims.
