SUNDAY OF ALL SAINTS AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On Sunday, the 11th/26th of June 2016, eight days after the feast of the Pentecost, the Patriarchate observed All-Saints day. A chapel dedicated to all the saints stands within the Monastery of Panaghia Seida Naya in the Christian quarter. There, Archbishop Theophanes of Gerassa led Vespers and the divine Liturgy, having as concelebrants Archimandrites Paisios and Sergios, Presbyter Nikitas and Hierodeacon Markos, as Archimandrites Eusebius and Alexios sang in the presence of members of the Greek Consulate-General in Jerusalem. Nuns, pious pilgrims and local Orthodox from the Greek parish attended the service.

After Communion, the Most Reverend spoke on the sacrament of the One Catholic and Apostolic Orthodox Church, within which a crowd of holy martyrs, preachers, evangelists and anonymous saints emerged, the mediation of whom we seek in the context of divine Eucharist for our salvation and for divine Grace in Christ.

After Vespers and the divine Liturgy, the abbess, nun Seraphima, hosted guests to a reception at the hegumeneion.
