THE SERVICE OF THE PASSION AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On the evening of Holy Thursday, the service of the Passion took place at the katholikon of the Church of the Resurrection. The service was led by Patriarch Theophilos, who read the first Gospel. The remaining eleven gospels were read by: Metropolitans Isychios of Kapitolias an Joachim of Zambia, Archimandrite Nektarios who was also leading priest, Archimandrites Sergios, Stephanos, Porphyrios, Parthenios, Ieronymos, the Master of Ceremonies and Assistant Dragoman, Archimandrite Bartholomew, the Sacristan of the Church, f. Polycarpos, and Archdeacon Evlogios. Archimandrite Aristovoulos sang with students of the Patriarchal School on the right, and the Metropolitan of Zambia sang on the left the troparia of Holy Friday Matins. Participating in the mass were representatives of the Greek Consul-General, Professor A. Moropoulou of the National Technical University of Athens, and a crowd of pilgrims from Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Romania and other Orthodox countries.

The service was broadcast live on the Patriarchate’s Radio Station.
