TONSURE OF NEW MONK AT THE PATRIARCHATE
On the morning of Saturday the 8th/21st of December 2013, His Beatitude Theophilos, Our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem, following a decision by the Holy and Sacred Synod, conducted the monastic initiation of novice Panayiotis Kyriakopoulos, serving at the All-holy Church of the Resurrection, renaming him Polycarpos. The tonsure took place at the chapel of the Pentecost, within the Patriarchate.
Present at the tonsure rite were the Elder Sacristan of the All-holy Church of the Resurrection, His Eminence Isidoros, Archbishop of Hierapolis, as well as other Elders and Hagiotaphite Fathers.
After the rite, His Beatitude addressed Fatherly advice to the tonsured monk f. Polycarpos, urging him to continue with patience, humbleness and serenity his diaconate at the Holy Sepulcher so as to provide an Orthodox Hagiotaphite testament and soon prove himself worthy of the honour bestowed upon him by the Holy and Sacred Synod, namely his ordination to the rank of hierodeacon.
