PRIEST NEWLY ORDAINED AT THE PATRIARCHATE

On the morning of Saturday the 25th of August/7th of September 2013, deacon f. Savvas Haj, was ordained a priest during the divine Liturgy on the Horrendous Golgotha by the Most Reverend Isychios, Metropolitan of Kapitolias. Thus far serving in the Metropolis of Accra-Ptolemais, f. Savvas is now meant to serve as vicar at the Greek Orthodox (Rum Orthodox) Community of the city of Abelin in Northern Israel, which comes under the Metropolis of Accra.

The ordained priest was accompanied by the Hegoumen of Accra, Archimandrite Philotheos, priests from the Accra region, his parents and his wife, the presbytera [priest’s wife]; also accompanying him were a group of his countrymen who in prayer participated in the Sacrament of Order, along with a group of pilgrims from Greece.

After the ordainment, the ordaining Prelate, the ordained priest and all participants went up to the Patriarchate where they received the blessings of His Beatitude Theophilos, our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem, and listened to His paternal words for the ordained priest on a diaconate appealing to both God and men.
